AMUER Custom Natural Wood Stairs — Made to Measure, Built to Last

A staircase is no longer just a way to move between floors. In modern architecture and interior design, stairs have become one of the most expressive design elements in a home or commercial space. AMUER custom wood staircases are engineered to integrate seamlessly with your existing or new natural wood floor — delivering visual continuity, structural precision, and unmatched material quality.

Every AMUER stair product is manufactured to your exact specifications. Whether you are renovating an old staircase or designing a new build from scratch, our team crafts each tread, riser cover, and nosing profile to match your floor's species, finish, and character.

Why Choose Custom Natural Wood Stair Treads?

Natural wood is the material of choice for discerning homeowners, architects, and interior designers who want a staircase that complements the warmth and character of a hardwood floor. Unlike laminate or engineered composites, solid and semi-solid wood treads develop a rich patina over time — improving with age rather than deteriorating.
•Floor-matched aesthetics: AMUER wood stairs are custom-manufactured to coordinate perfectly with your specific floor product, ensuring grain pattern, color tone, and surface treatment remain consistent across horizontal and vertical planes.
•Durability under daily use: Hardwood stair treads are engineered to withstand high foot traffic, impact, and moisture variation — particularly when finished with AMUER's oil-based, hardwax surface treatments.
•Design flexibility: From clean minimal edges with shadow gaps to rounded noses and coordinated metal edge strips, AMUER stairs adapt to any architectural language.
•Healthier living environments: Natural wood does not trap allergens like carpeted stairs. AMUER's natural oil finishes are free from harmful VOCs, contributing to improved indoor air quality.
•Sustainable sourcing: AMUER sources timber from responsibly managed, certified forests, ensuring every step supports ecological stewardship.

Surface Finishes
Every finish available for the floor is also available for skirting boards — matched identically in sheen, texture, and protective performance.

•Natural Oil — Matte, penetrating, warm and authentic
•Hardwax Oil — Penetrating oil + thin wax for extra resilience; wide tinted color range
•White Oil — Bleached, pale aesthetic; ideal for Scandinavian / New Nordic schemes
•Gray / Silver Oil — Cool contemporary tone; pairs with natural and pigmented gray floors
•Brushed — Wire-brushed texture emphasizing natural grain; conceals minor surface marks
•Smoked / Fumed Oak — Deep, dramatic tone via heat treatment; pairs with smoked oak floors

•Matching landing boards from the same timber batch as the treads
•Anti-slip inserts for commercial or public-access applications
Installation Guide
1 — Acclimatize
Allow treads to acclimatize in the installation space for 48–72 hours. Wood must reach equilibrium with ambient humidity and temperature before fixing.
2 — Prepare Substrate
Substrate must be flat (±2 mm over 2 m), dry (< 2.5% CM for concrete; < 15% for timber), and structurally sound. Remove any debris, dust, or loose material.
3 — Apply Adhesive & Set Treads
Apply flexible MS polymer or polyurethane adhesive in full-coverage notched-trowel application. Place treads carefully, press firmly for full contact. Check level. Use temporary clamps during curing.
4 — Fit Nosing Profiles
Install stair nosing profiles using supplied fixings or adhesive. Ensure a tight, flush joint between nosing and tread face. Mitred ends for wall-to-wall runs.
5 — Final Finishing
If treads were supplied unfinished, apply AMUER-recommended oil or hardwax oil within 24 hours. Touch up cut ends and nosing joints with matching maintenance oil.
Care & Maintenance
•Daily — Dry or slightly damp microfiber cloth. Remove grit promptly.
•Every 6–12 months — Apply AMUER Maintenance Oil to restore surface protection and luster.
•Spot repair — Lightly sand affected area, re-oil, buff. No full refinish needed.
•Humidity — Maintain 40–60% RH year-round to minimize wood movement.
•Entrance mat — Place at stair base to trap abrasive grit.
FAQ
Q:  Can AMUER stairs be matched exactly to my existing floor?
Yes. AMUER manufactures stair treads, riser covers, and nosing profiles from the same timber species and with the same surface treatment as our floor products. If you are ordering stairs alongside a new floor installation, they will be produced from the same batch of timber to ensure consistent grain and color. For existing floors, we offer a matching consultation service.
Q:  What is the lead time for custom-made AMUER stair treads?
Lead times for custom stair products typically range from 3 to 6 weeks depending on species availability, order volume, and surface treatment complexity. Rush production may be available for select species — contact our team for project-specific timelines.
Q:  Are AMUER stair treads suitable for underfloor heating systems?
Yes. AMUER stair treads can be specified for installation over radiant underfloor heating systems. However, specific dimensional tolerances and maximum surface temperature limits apply. Our technical team will advise on the correct species, thickness, and adhesive system for heated installations.
Q:  Do AMUER stair treads have anti-slip properties?
Natural hardwood stair treads with an oil finish provide a naturally grippy surface — especially textured finishes such as brushed or saw-cut. AMUER also offers dedicated anti-slip nosing profiles and can incorporate recessed anti-slip inserts into custom treads for commercial or public-access applications where regulatory compliance is required.

Q:  Can AMUER supply stair treads for renovation of existing concrete stairs?

Yes. AMUER riser covers and tread overlay systems are specifically designed for renovation applications where demolition is not practical. These thin-profile systems — typically 15–20 mm — bond directly to the existing concrete or screed substrate with minimal height gain.

Q:  What wood species is most durable for high-traffic stairs?

European Oak is the most widely recommended species for residential and commercial stairs due to its excellent hardness (Brinell 3.7), stability, and broad aesthetic range. Ash and Walnut are also highly suitable. For very high-traffic commercial applications, consider thermo-treated or densified timber options from the AMUER portfolio.
