Raw, Wide, and Honest -- AM-06 at 260mm
AM-06 is a 260mm extra-wide plank engineered oak floor in CD natural character grade with a hand-scraped surface and natural oil finish -- a 15/4mm three-layer engineered hardwood with a 4mm solid oak wear layer that presents European oak in its most honest and unmediated form: natural colour from pale cream-white sapwood to deep honey-gold heartwood, bold open knots filled and stable, flowing grain around every knot zone, and the artisan hand-scraped texture that records the mark of the person who processed each board, finished with penetrating natural oil that feeds the wood and leaves every surface detail completely open.
The colour range of AM-06 at CD grade and 260mm is the widest of any natural (unsmoked) oak product in the AMUER range. CD grade does not restrict the colour of boards by grade -- it accepts the full palette of European oak from the palest outer sapwood, which appears almost cream-white or pale gold, to the richest central heartwood, which is deep amber-honey. At 260mm board width, individual boards are wide enough to contain this full colour gradient within a single plank: a board that transitions from pale sapwood at one edge to warm heartwood at the centre and back to pale at the other edge. No two boards carry the same colour composition, and no two positions in the installed floor read identically.
The open knots visible in the product photograph are the most immediately striking feature of AM-06. Open knots form where a branch was shed by the tree during its growth -- the knot core has separated from the surrounding wood, leaving a void that has been filled with resin during production to stabilise and seal the board. The filled knot at the top of the product image is particularly large and irregularly shaped, with dark mineral staining at its edges where the branch zone met the surrounding wood fibre. These are not defects -- they are the most honest possible record of what the tree actually was, preserved in the floor without modification.
Hand scraping adds a third dimension to the surface: the irregular wave-like undulations left by the cabinet scraper make AM-06 perceptible not just visually but physically. Each board carries the specific scraping pattern applied to it by the worker who processed it -- a pattern that will never be identically repeated. Natural oil finish completes the specification without adding a surface barrier: the oil soaks into the wood fibre, feeding and protecting it from within, leaving the colour, the knot detail, the grain, and the scraped texture all completely visible and accessible to the touch.
Design Guide
AM-06's pale-to-honey natural tone, bold CD character, hand-scraped texture, and extra-wide 260mm format make it the most material-honest floor in the AMUER range. Two contexts where AM-06 is the definitive choice:

Raw & Authentic
AM-06 is the floor for interiors that celebrate raw, unprocessed materials. Against white lime-plaster walls, exposed stone, and raw structural timber, the pale-to-honey oak with open knots and hand-scraped texture reads as material equals rather than as a decorative surface. Every element belongs to the same family of honest, hand-made, naturally coloured things. The natural oil finish ensures there is no synthetic surface quality between the timber and the room.

Grand Country House
At 260mm wide and 2,200mm long, AM-06 boards have the generous proportions of historical timber flooring in significant period buildings -- houses where the original floor was made from large trees, producing wide planks of dramatic grain and character. The natural oil finish references the historical treatment of such floors; the hand-scraped surface references the tool marks left by original craftspeople. Against high ceilings, period joinery, and tall windows, AM-06 reads as architecturally congruent.
Installation & Room Suitability
Click Installation (Floating)
AM-06 uses Uniclic-compatible click floating installation. At 260mm extra-wide, careful subfloor preparation is essential. The natural oil finish requires full acclimatisation before installation.
•No adhesive required -- click lock floating installation
•Subfloor flatness: 3mm per 2m maximum -- essential for 260mm boards
•Expansion gap at all walls: minimum 15mm
•48-hour acclimatisation at room temperature before installation
•Install perpendicular to main light source for best appearance
•Stagger end joints: minimum 400mm between rows
Use foam or combination underlay suitable for oiled floors
Underfloor Heating
AM-06 is compatible with both hydronic and electric UFH. Natural oil handles UFH thermal cycling well. At 260mm extra-wide, careful humidity management is required.
✓Maximum surface temperature: 27 degrees C
✓Switch off heating 48 hours before installation
✓Restart gradually: 1-2 degrees C per day to operating temperature
✓Maintain indoor humidity 45-60% RH year-round
✓Natural oil handles UFH cycles without cracking risk
Thermal resistance 0.15 m2 K/W maximum
Room Suitability
| Room / Application | Suitability | Notes |
| Living Rooms & Open Plan | Excellent | The pale-to-honey colour range and bold CD character create a visually rich floor plane. The hand-scraped texture rewards inspection at close range. |
| Dining Rooms | Excellent | Open knots and flowing grain fully visible at dining table eye level. The natural oil surface feels warm and genuine underfoot. |
Heritage & Country Houses | Excellent | AM-06 is architecturally appropriate for country houses and rural properties. The natural oil hand-scraped format references historical floor timber authentically. |
Master Bedrooms | Excellent | Warm natural tone and soft wax oil surface create a rich, intimate bedroom environment. |
Hallways | Very Good | Natural oil more repairable than lacquer for hallway use. Bold colour variation and texture conceal traffic marks well. Re-oil annually. |
Home Offices & Studies | Very Good | The natural floor creates a warm, focused environment. Chair mat recommended under desk chairs. |
Kitchen | Good | Natural oil less water-resistant than lacquer. Seal all board joints. Wipe spills immediately. Re-oil kitchen areas annually. |
Heritage Hospitality | Very Good | For design-led properties seeking maximum material authenticity. Note: natural oil maintenance higher than lacquer for commercial use. |
Bathrooms | Not Recommended | Not suitable for persistent moisture -- specify SPC flooring. |
Care & Maintenance -- Natural Oil on Hand Scraped Surface
| Task | Method |
| Daily | Dry sweep or vacuum with soft brush head along grain direction -- the hand-scraped undulations collect fine dust; vacuum along the grain for best results |
| Weekly | Damp mop with well-wrung cloth and pH-neutral wood floor cleaner for oiled floors -- no standing water; natural oil is not waterproof |
| Spills | Wipe immediately -- natural oil is not waterproof; open knot zones and scraped valleys can collect liquid if not wiped promptly |
Spot repair | Lightly abrade worn or marked area with 240-grit paper along the grain and re-apply natural oil locally -- the hand-scraped texture makes local repairs blend naturally |
Full re-oil | Every 1-3 years depending on traffic -- AMUER Floor Care Oil or equivalent penetrating oil; the hand-scraped texture absorbs oil particularly well across the full board face |
Never | Steam mop · abrasive cleaners · bleach · solvent-based products · UV lacquer products · re-lacquering (oiled floor; never apply lacquer over natural oil) |

FAQ
Q1. What is hand scraped natural oak wide plank engineered flooring?
Hand scraped natural oak wide plank engineered flooring is a multi-layer engineered hardwood floor with a solid European oak wear layer in an unsmoked, unmodified natural tone, processed with hand scraping to create an irregular three-dimensional surface texture, finished with penetrating natural oil, in a wide plank format -- in AM-06, 260mm extra-wide with a 4mm solid oak wear layer and click installation.
AMUER AM-06 is 260mm wide, 2,200mm long, 15/4mm total thickness, CD natural character grade, hand scraped surface, natural oil finish, and click installation. It presents European oak in its most honest form: natural pale cream-to-honey-gold colour, bold open knots, flowing grain, hand-scraped texture, and the warm open feel of a penetrating oil finish.
Q2. What are the open knots visible in AM-06?
The open knots in AM-06 are stable, resin-filled voids in the board face that formed where a branch was shed by the tree during its growth -- the knot core separated from the surrounding wood, leaving a void filled with resin during production to stabilise and permanently seal the board.
Open knots are not structural weaknesses or defects. The resin fill stabilises the void completely; the filled knot zone is dimensionally stable under normal residential conditions. The dark mineral staining visible at the edges of the knots in the product photograph is caused by tannin concentration in the branch zone -- it is permanent, stable, and part of the visual character. Clients who specify CD-grade natural oak floors almost always cite the open knots as the primary reason for the choice.
Q3. What is the colour range of AM-06 and why is it so wide?
AM-06 at CD grade spans from very pale cream-white sapwood to deep warm honey-gold heartwood -- the widest colour range of any natural (unsmoked) oak product in the AMUER range -- because CD grade does not restrict the colour of boards by grade, accepting the full colour palette of European oak from the outermost sapwood to the richest central heartwood.
At 260mm board width, individual boards are wide enough to contain this full colour range within a single plank: a board may transition from pale sapwood at one edge to warm heartwood at the centre. No two boards carry the same colour composition. The natural oil finish enhances the natural tone without altering it. Over time, periodic oiling and normal use gradually develop a patina that enriches the colour further.
Q4. Why is natural oil used on AM-06 rather than UV lacquer?
Natural oil is used on AM-06 because a hard lacquer surface film would create a physical and visual distance between the viewer and the oak -- reducing the immediate, open quality of the natural material -- while natural oil penetrates the wood fibre rather than forming a surface film, preserving the full natural colour, the tactile depth of the hand-scraped texture, and the open-wood feel that is the defining quality of the specification.
The trade-off: natural oil requires periodic re-oiling (every 1-3 years) and more careful spill management than UV lacquer. The benefit: the floor looks and feels like genuine raw timber, develops a natural patina over time, and can be spot-repaired locally without sanding the full floor. For a product designed to present oak in its most natural form, natural oil is the finish that fully honours that intention.
Q5. Can AM-06 be used over underfloor heating?
Yes -- AM-06 is compatible with both hydronic and electric underfloor heating, maximum surface temperature 27 degrees C.
Natural oil handles UFH thermal cycling well -- it does not crack under heat stress. At 260mm extra-wide, maintain indoor relative humidity at 45-60% RH year-round to prevent edge movement in the wider boards. Switch off heating 48 hours before installation; restart gradually, increasing by 1-2 degrees C per day.
Q6. How do I maintain the natural oil finish on AM-06?
Natural oil on AM-06 requires periodic full re-oiling every 1-3 years, daily sweeping, weekly damp mopping with pH-neutral wood cleaner, and immediate spill wiping -- natural oil is not waterproof.
Spot repair is straightforward and particularly effective on a hand-scraped surface: lightly abrade the worn or marked area with 240-grit paper along the grain and re-apply natural oil locally. The hand-scraped texture variation means local repairs blend very naturally. Full re-oiling renews the finish and deepens the natural tone across the entire floor. Use AMUER Floor Care Oil or a compatible penetrating natural oil.
Q7. Can AM-06 be sanded and refinished?
Yes -- AM-06 has a 4mm solid oak wear layer supporting 3-4 full sanding and refinishing cycles over the floor's lifespan.
After sanding, AM-06 can be re-scraped and re-oiled to restore the full hand-scraped natural oil specification, or finished with a different treatment if preferred. The re-scraping step requires professional hand-scraping equipment and a skilled operator. Each sanding removes approximately 1mm of wear layer. Full refinishing should be carried out by a flooring specialist.
Q8. What is the minimum order for AM-06?
The standard minimum order for AMUER AM-06 is 200 m2 per SKU from our China factory.
