Grey Oak 90mm Chevron Engineered Flooring Brushed Saw Mark 15/4mm — AM-44
AM-44 is a 90mm grey chevron engineered oak floor in AB premium natural character grade, treated with a brushed and saw mark dual surface, finished with UV lacquer: 15/4mm three-layer construction with a 4mm solid European oak wear layer over a cross-ply core, tongue-and-groove full-spread adhesive glue-down installation. The floor's defining specification is the combination of three elements that are rarely found together: a cool grey colour treatment that positions AM-44 at the contemporary, architectural end of the AMUER chevron range; a dual brushed-plus-saw-mark surface that applies two opposing texture treatments — the grain-following fine lines of brushing and the cross-grain parallel incisions of saw marks — over the grey ground; and the 4mm solid oak wear layer, which provides 3–4 full sanding and refinishing cycles and makes AM-44 a genuinely long-term premium floor. The 90mm chevron format delivers a fine, dense V-repeat across the grey textured surface that reads from across the room as a richly patterned cool grey field, and at close range as a complex, multi-textured natural wood surface.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW · AM-42 WARM HONEY OAK CHEVRON
Grey Chevron at 90mm — Dual Surface Texture, 4mm Wear Layer, Cool Contemporary Character
The dual brushed-plus-saw-mark surface treatment is the most complex texture specification in the AMUER chevron range, and it is particularly effective on a grey floor. On a natural honey-gold or white floor, the two-texture combination adds depth and interest that the natural colour's own warmth or brightness can complement or absorb. On AM-44's cool grey, the dual texture is the floor's primary natural-material credential: without the brushed grain lines and the cross-grain saw marks, a grey floor risks reading as synthetic, painted, or lacking in material authenticity. With both textures, the grey surface reads as genuinely natural wood that has been coloured rather than a grey product that merely resembles wood.
The two surface treatments work in opposition — brushing runs along the grain, saw marks run across it — creating a cross-hatched micro-relief that catches light differently depending on direction. In a room with a single directional light source, the floor's texture shifts as you walk around it: from one angle the brushed grain lines are more visible; from another angle the cross-grain saw marks dominate. This directional quality makes AM-44 particularly effective in rooms with strong natural light from a specific direction.
The 4mm solid oak wear layer is the correct specification for a floor of this design intensity. AM-44 is a premium floor — in colour, texture, format, and finish — and the 4mm wear layer ensures it performs as a premium floor for decades, with 3–4 full sanding and refinishing cycles available if needed.
Design Guide
AM-44's cool grey, dual brushed-plus-saw-mark texture, 90mm chevron geometry, 4mm wear layer, and UV lacquer place it firmly in cool contemporary, minimalist, and design-led interior contexts.
Cool Contemporary & Minimalist
AM-44 is the natural floor for cool minimalist and design-led interiors. The cool grey ground recedes into the palette; the dual texture adds material depth at close range; the 90mm chevron pattern provides architectural geometry without colour complexity. Against white walls, pale grey surfaces, and black or steel metal elements, AM-44 reads as a confident, considered floor.
Cool Japandi
AM-44's cool grey tone and natural dual-texture surface align with the cool Japandi palette where grey is the restrained, honest alternative to warm honey oak. The fine 90mm V-repeat adds geometric precision; the two-direction surface texture adds natural material authenticity. Against warm white walls, dark ash joinery, and handmade ceramics, the grey chevron grounds the interior.
Dark Contrast
Against deep, saturated wall colours, AM-44's cool grey chevron creates a precise, restrained floor contrast. The grey reads as neither warm nor cold against deep colours — it is neutral enough to work harmoniously with any saturated palette direction. The dense 90mm chevron pattern adds visual complexity at floor level that complements richly coloured walls.

Room Suitability
| Room / Application | Suitability | Notes | ||
| Contemporary Living Rooms | Exceptional | AM-44's cool grey dual-textured chevron is the defining floor for cool contemporary living rooms. The grey tone works with virtually every contemporary palette; the dual texture adds material depth; the UV lacquer is durable. | ||
| Open Plan Living | Exceptional | Cool grey chevron creates a sophisticated, unified geometric ground across open-plan spaces. The grey recedes against kitchen cabinetry and living furniture, allowing the interior to advance. | ||
Minimalist & Architect-Specified | Exceptional | The cool grey, precise chevron geometry, and dual surface texture together produce an architecturally sophisticated floor that reads as a deliberate design choice rather than a default.
Cool Japandi Interiors | Excellent | AM-44's cool grey tone and fine 90mm chevron are ideal for cool Japandi interiors. The two-texture surface adds natural material honesty that Japandi aesthetics require.
Bedrooms | Excellent | Cool grey chevron creates a calm, sophisticated bedroom. UV lacquer no re-oiling maintenance.
Dining Rooms | Excellent | UV lacquer resists dining spills. Cool grey conceals marks well. Dual texture adds character.
Entrance Halls | Excellent | Grey chevron creates a refined entrance statement. Durable UV lacquer resists abrasion.
Home Offices | Very Good | Cool grey — focused, professional environment. Desk chair mat on UV lacquer surface.
Kitchen (dry zone) | Good with care | UV lacquer resists splashes. Dry zone only. Prompt spill response.
Bathrooms | Not Recommended | Not suitable for persistent moisture exposure.
Care & Maintenance
| Task | Method | ||
| Daily | Dry sweep or vacuum with soft brush head. The dual-textured surface — both brushed grain channels and saw mark incisions — collects fine grit; remove before it abrades the UV lacquer. Cool grey shows dust more readily than dark floors. | ||
| Weekly | Damp mop with well-wrung cloth and pH-neutral UV lacquer floor cleaner only. No steam mop. No standard household cleaners. | ||
| Spills | Wipe immediately. UV lacquer provides good spill resistance. | ||
V-joints | Do not fill or caulk. Clean with soft vacuum brush along joint direction.
No re-oiling | UV lacquer requires no periodic re-oiling. Never apply wax, oil, or tinted maintenance products to AM-44 — any warmth-adding product will shift the cool grey tone permanently.
Grey colour maintenance | The grey colour on AM-44 is sealed under UV lacquer and will not shift under normal cleaning. Use only colourless, compatible UV lacquer maintenance products if surface buffing is required.
Furniture | Felt pads under all furniture legs. Protective mat under desk chairs.
Never | Steam mop · standing water · wax or oil on UV lacquer · tinted or coloured maintenance products · filling chevron V-joints · ammonia or bleach cleaners.

FAQ
Q1. What makes AM-44 different from AM-41 (white stained) and AM-42 (natural oak) chevron?
All three are 90×510mm T&G chevron with AB grade. The differences are colour, surface treatment, and specification. AM-42 is natural unmodified honey-gold oak with UV lacquer — warm, natural, no colour treatment; AM-41 has a white stain applied over brushed surface with UV lacquer — pale cool-white, single brush treatment, 14/3mm; AM-44 has a cool grey treatment over a dual brushed-plus-saw-mark surface with UV lacquer — cool grey, two texture treatments, thicker 15/4mm construction with 4mm wear layer. AM-44 is the most specified (thickest, most textured) of the three and the most tonally neutral.
Q2. What does the dual brushed + saw-mark surface look like on a grey floor?
The brushed treatment creates fine lines running along the board's grain direction. The saw mark treatment adds parallel incisions running perpendicular to the grain. On AM-44's cool grey surface, these two sets of lines are visible as a subtle cross-hatched texture. In flat light the texture reads as a fine two-directional pattern across the grey surface. In directional or raking light, the raised ridges and incised channels of both treatments catch the light differently, making the surface appear to shift in character as the viewing angle changes. The result is a grey floor that reads as visually complex and genuinely natural at close range.
Q3. Why is the 4mm wear layer important on AM-44?
The 4mm wear layer on AM-44's 15/4mm construction supports 3–4 full sanding and refinishing cycles — compared with 2–3 for a 3mm wear layer. For a premium grey chevron floor of this design intensity and installation cost (specialist T&G glue-down parquet), the 4mm wear layer is the correct long-term specification. It also means the grey colour treatment can be sanded off and replaced with a different colour or finish in a future renovation cycle, giving AM-44 genuine long-term design flexibility.
Q4. Can AM-44 be used over underfloor heating?
Yes — AM-44 is compatible with both hydronic and electric UFH at a maximum surface temperature of 27°C. Glue-down T&G is the most thermally stable installation for chevron over UFH. Allow 7 days for adhesive cure before UFH activation. Maintain 45–60% RH year-round. UV lacquer is more moisture-resistant than wax oil.
Q5. How do I maintain the grey UV lacquer surface without shifting the colour?
Yes — AM-42 is compatible with both hydronic and electric underfloor heating with T&G glue-down installation. Use a flexible polyurethane adhesive compatible with UFH. Maximum surface temperature 27°C. Maintain indoor humidity 45–60% RH year-round. Switch off heating 48 hours before installation; restart gradually at 1–2°C per day. UV lacquer is stable under UFH heating cycles.
